Reality had to feature an animated painting. Originally, the painting would watch the character walk past him, and then return to its normal state. Instead, the painting would lip-sync to the song, I found this to be more suitable for the music video.

The painting itself was based on Vincent Van Gogh's painting, "Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear"
